Abstract

Abstract: The talk with the well-known field researcher and methodologist Ilya Efimovich Steinberg is devoted to research culture, which is understood as a system of ethical beliefs emerging in the academic community and regulates not only the conduct of field research, but also the attitude towards the profession as a whole. The interview discusses the search for sources of research ethics and ways to reproduce it; the boundaries of professional culture; the ethical complexity of in-depth interviews; and the latest challenges in qualitative sociology related to the development of artificial intelligence. The interview was conducted by Evgeniya Panova — editor of the section “Research ethics”, candidate of philosophical sciences (PhD), associate professor at the Petrovsky Medical University (Russian Scientific Center of Surgery named after Academician B. V. Petrovsky). Address: Moscow, 3 Tsyurupa Street. E-mail: panova.el@staff.med.ru.
