Field Notes on the Inhabitants of the Towers: the Experience of Expeditionary Research of the Youth of the Republic of Ingushetia

Abstract

The analytical notes offered for reading are the result of a field study of youth leisure
activities in the city of Magas, Republic of Ingushetia. A reflection is presented on the performance
of traditional methodological tools, in particular interviews, as well as on the problems
encountered by the research team during recruiting, organizing and conducting the conversations.
Three substantive features of the interviews conducted are described: framing of
the conversations, specific organization of the gender display and self-exoticization. The final
paper problematizes the findings and the role of the researcher.
