Abstract

The author’s view of the emerging interest in the memoirs of people belonging to various social groups. The importance of preserving the handwritten and oral heritage of previous generations is emphasized both for the descendants of the author’s family and for historians. Author suggested that an interest in the past is a property of mature citizens who have gained life experience. An assessment is given of the memoirs of Elena Dmitrieva, Boris Galitsky and Tamara Grigorenko published in The Journal of Russian Social Research and Ethnography (2024, No. 1).
